As the founder of Shining Light Preschool in 1999, I have been truly blessed by the relationships I have developed with teachers & SLP families. Shining Light is a great place for your child to spend their preschool years learning and growing — all the while getting to know (and trust!) a great big God who loves an itty-bitty me!

"The Lord has done great things for us… and we are glad!"
- Psalm 126:3

I feel beyond blessed to be a teacher at Shining Light as I was born and raised in Pleasanton and grew up going to Valley Community Church. It is an amazing feeling to be able to serve families in my hometown. I hold a degree in Human Development with an emphasis in Early Childhood and cannot believe that I get to put my passion and education to use teaching little ones about the love of Christ and His abundant grace that fills their lives. I have a wonderful husband named Dane and a son named Levi whom I adore with everything in me! I love cooking, exercising, the beach, and I am a major Giants fan. My prayer is that my classroom will be a fun environment filled with a ton of dancing and, most importantly, the love of Christ!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
– Romans 15:13

Shining Light Preschool literally changed my life when my son attended here. The Lord was, and is, so present, that I gave my life to Him and he blessed me with a love of children that fills my soul. I am so fortunate to have been graced with a job here, where I can not only facilitate the education of small children, but teach them about the Lord and how he treasures them. My prayer is that I will plant, or add to what has been planted, a love of the Lord which will grow throughout their lives.

“It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. Yet when planted it grows and becomes the largest of all the garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade.”
– Mark 4: 31-32.

I have been so blessed to not only teach at Shining Light Preschool for the past nine years but also have my daughter attend for the past two years. Having both aspects of Shining Light it is nothing short of a wonderful experience. My classroom is a place where children come to learn, have fun, feel loved and 100% accepted for who God wants them to be. The most wonderful part of my job is having the freedom to share with children how much God loves them and has a plan for their life.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandings. In all yours acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.”
– Proverbs 3: 5-6

I love teaching at Shining Light because I get to teach children all about Jesus. I love watching the kids grow and blossom through the school year. I am so blessed to be able to work with such wonderful teachers. When I am not teaching I am usually baking cupcakes, spending time with friends or playing with my niece and nephew.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
– Jeremiah 29:11

As a parent of two, who have attended Shining Light Preschool, I am so excited to have the opportunity to be one of the teachers at SLP. I believe that the love of school starts now, in pre-school. It is my goal to have your little one excited, ready and confident leaving my classroom. My approach to teaching is always meeting the student where they are, giving them new and exciting experiences and showing them how they were wonderfully and beautifully made in God's image.

“For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.”
- Psalm 139: 13-14

I am blessed to be a part of Shining Light Preschool. It is such a loving and caring environment to work in and I enjoy every new day with each of my students and fellow teachers. I love being creative, creating new art with my students and spending my time finding new fun ways to help them learn.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
– Colossians 3:16 (ESV)

I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Shining Light family. I’m a homeschooling mom of 2 with a degree in child development. I have a God-given passion for teaching and a great love for our little ones. When I am not teaching or caring for my wonderful family, I enjoy doing various types of art, knitting, crocheting, hiking, or curling up with a good book. God has blessed me in so many ways throughout my life, and it is my hope and prayer to share my love of Jesus and our Heavenly Father with the kids and people that surround me. I can’t wait to tell them of the great love that He has for each of us.

Let all that I am praise the Lord
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the Lord;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

- Psalm 103:1-5

All 3 of my children have attended Shining Light and now I am so blessed to be teaching here. It has always been more than a preschool to me and them. It truly is a community, a community of God. This is where they first learned about God and how much he loves them. I am so excited to see how much your children in my classroom grow this year — physically, emotionally and spiritually.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
– Matthew 6:34

I am elated to be teaching at Shining Light Preschool. All four of my children have attended SLP.  It has been my home away from home for nine years as a parent and now I am excited to be a teacher.  I have taught 5th and 3rd grades in Cupertino and volunteered in various Sunday school classes.  My passion is children.  I gain energy from them and love their insight, love, curiosity and honesty.

My desire is to share God’s love with your child and share that he or she is deeply loved and are fearfully & wonderfully made. God’s love knows no boundaries. In my free time, I love to hike, read (children’s literature & historical fiction), bake and just relax with my kids. Thank you for sharing your child with me;

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Romans 8:38-39

I am privileged to be a preschool teacher at Shining Light Preschool. I was raised in Benicia, California and attended college at Sacramento State where I majored in Child Development and conducted further study as a part of its multiple subject and special education teaching credential programs. Seeing the maturation and educational development of young learners is so very rewarding, but the best part about teaching at Shining Light is the ability to teach my students about my greatest passion, Jesus!

I am married and busy raising four children here in Pleasanton, where we have lived since 2004. Our children are involved in many sports in local leagues, including basketball, baseball, swimming, waterpolo, volleyball, flag football and triathlon. I have enjoyed multiple years of coaching girls basketball in both PYB and CYO. My free time is spent chauffeuring my kids to all their activities, reading parenting books, and studying the Word of God.

“...Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'”
– John 8:31
